Martha Ann Herndon was the FIRST Martha married to Franklin McDonald Benjamin McElroy. I finally found a record of her death on an 1880 US federal census mortality schedule showing she passed away in May 1880 in Navarro County Texas. That explains why she isn't on the regular census with her family. I cannot find her burial. She is always confused with his second wife Martha whose burial place is known.

Martha Ann Herndon was first married to a William James or James William McKinney before she was married to Franklin. She was the mother of Mary Jane, James, and Willie McKinney. She was also the mother of Elizabeth, Martha, Jewey, Benjamin, and Sally McElroy. If anyone does happen to find her burial, please let me know, and I will add it. Again, this is NOT his second wife named Martha who died in 1911 and was buried in Edith, Texas.

I made this memorial because I wanted our lineage to be linked through to the DeGraffenreid line as they are rightfully our ancestors. Martha Ann Herndon McElroy is my 4th great grandmother.
