Pioneer Native of Ogden Succumbs
Obsequies Will Be Held Monday Afternoon In Salt Lake City
Mrs. Mary E. Freeman, 81, widow of Elija N. Freeman, and a pioneer of Ogden and
Salt Lake City, died Saturday in a Salt Lake City hospital, following a
one-month illness.
She was born in Ogden February 5, 1855, a daughter of Winthrop and Ellen Farley.
She spent her early youth in Ogden and after marriage, the couple moved to
Arizona. Later they moved to Idaho, and en years ago to Salt Lake City.
IN CHURCH OFFICES
Mrs. Freeman had been active in the L.D.S. church. She was a member of the Salt
Lake City Poplar Grove ward. She had been stake president of the Relief society
and Young Women's Mutual improvement association while living in Arizona.
Mr. Freeman died in Salt Lake City March 14, 1936.
She is survived by the following children; E. Norman Freeman, Ogden, Mrs. Louie
A. Reeder, Ogden; Oscar F. Freeman, Salt Lake City; Lauren F. Freeman, Basalt,
Ida.; Erastus B. Freeman, Twin Falls Ida.; and 30 grand-children.
Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Amelia Foden,
Pocatello, Ida.; Mrs. Adeline Greenwell, Mrs. J. H. Rhine, Mrs. May Williams,
Jessie Farley, Mrs. Annie Bluth, Ogden; Theodore Farley, Provo; Asa Farley, Salt
Lake City; and Joseph and Charles Farley, Idaho.
BURIAL SERVICES
Funeral services will be held Monday at one p.m. in the Poplar Grove ward
chapel.
Friends may call at the family residence, 1217 Indiana avenue, Salt Lake City,
today,a nd Monday until time of services. The body on arrival in Ogden may be
viewed at the Lindquist & Sons' mortuary from three-thirty until four p.m.
Interment will be made in Ogden city cemetery.
