Stella Ruth (Plowman) Leatherwood passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was 85 years old. Stella was born on May 23, 1938, in Jack County, Texas to John and Mary (Hobbs) Plowman.
A visitation will be held from 6 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Coker Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery in Bryson, Texas.
Stella married Deuard Leatherwood on April 6, 1954, in Jacksboro, Texas. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Stella was a loving wife, mother, and Meme who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Deuard Leatherwood, one grandson, Dirk Leatherwood, one granddaughter Emily Leatherwood, and siblings, Edna, Mildred, Cleo, Johnny, Carley, Janie, Oleta, Joe, Raymond, and her twin brother Steve.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Ricky Leatherwood and his wife Kathy of Lubbock, Steve Leatherwood and his wife Lynda of Olney, Paul Leatherwood and his wife Margaret of Bryson, Suzy Martin of Bryson, and Sammy Leatherwood and his wife Pam of Bryson; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.
