Mrs. Florence Adelia Walker, age 84, of Mena, formerly of Hatton, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Mena.
She was born December 8, 1923 in Cove, Arkansas to the late David Mark Smedley and the late Altha A. Cook Smedley. She was united in marriage to the late Dewey Walker in 1942. She was retired and former assistant post master at Hatton, and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by children: Charles Odom and wife Estelle of Conroe, Texas; David Walker and wife Cloma of Mena, Arkansas; Larry Walker and wife Regina of Mena, Arkansas; brothers Ray Smedley and Bobby Smedley; sisters Gwen Fulton, Pat Couch, Meatus Bisbee, Bonnie Johnston, and Wanda Mulholland; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Mark and Altha Smedley, her husband Dewey Walker, 2 brothers, Buck Smedley and Foy Smedley, and 3 sisters, Betty Howard, Ardie Milam, and Norma Jean Smedley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene at Cove with Brother Lynn Bean and Brother Vern Hatton officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Friday evening, April 25th form 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene, the Mena Regional Health System Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
