Nancy (Kloppenborg) Diggins was born on October 3, 1944, in State Center, Iowa, the daughter of Nason and Olive (Swalwell) Kloppenborg. Nancy graduated from Collins High school with the Class of 1962. She graduated from Marshalltown Community College in 1992.
On June 17, 1962, Nancy married Robert Diggins, in Collins, Iowa. She later joined the workforce and held various positions. Nancy did daycare for many years and also worked at the Penny Saver, Benson Optical, Lennox Industries, the Red Cross, and for the First Presbyterian Church where she retired in 2021 at the age of 76.
Nancy and her family were charter members of the Hope United Methodist Church. Nancy was in the choir, played bells, was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of many committees at Hope Church. She also served as treasurer of the United Methodist Women, vice president of Mid-Iowa Professionals IAAP, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved singing in the "Messiah" and enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, cross-stitching, reading, word search, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Robert Diggins; children Denna (Scott) Kain, Darla (John) Hunzelman, DeAnn (Sean) Roling, and Daniel (Kari) Diggins; ten grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Mary) Kloppenborg, Myrtle Lester, Elaine Stucky, Casey (Cliff) Schuler, and Nita Kloppenborg; her in-laws Nancy Borton, Bernice Diggins, Loren Huffaker, and Judy Diggins; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Nason and Olive; her mother-in-law, Twilla Polley; her brother, John Kloppenborg; and her sisters, Opal Howell and Peggy Lester.
