On January 7, 2024, Earl S. Jordan (peacefully) quietly transitioned to his heavenly home, to be with the Father and all those who preceded him. Earl Sylvester Jordan was born on, September 10, 1932 in Pomonkey, Maryland to his late parents, Estelle Eliza Jordan and Wesley Sylvester Jordan. Earl attended Pomonkey Elementary and graduated from Pomonkey High School. On July 1, 1953, Earl married the late Everdene "Dene" Joyce Ford. Earl and Dene made their home in Pomonkey, Maryland, where together they were the proud parents of seven children.

Earl held many jobs to include cement and dump truck driver, a custodian and school bus driver at Lackey High School in the 50's and 60's. In the 70's, Earl worked at the then Naval Propellant Plant in Indian Head, Maryland, as a vehicle mechanic. Eight years later, Earl transferred to the U.S. Park Service in Washington DC, where he was employed for 22 years until his retirement in October 1992. Not one to rest on his laurels, Earl drove the school bus for the Charles County School System for 13 years and followed that up with another 13 years as a bus attendant.

Earl was a faithful member of the Metropolitan United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, a longtime member of the United Methodist Men and a member of the roadside pick-up team, as well as, a former member of the Share Program, (where they would pick-up food to be shared with the community). Earl would often attend Sunrise Service and voted Man of The Year in 2012.

Although Earl had many hobbies, in his early days, he loved to work on cars, play checkers, pitch horseshoes, shoot pool, followed the Pomonkey Giants baseball team, avid bowler, a mean bid whist player, and a devoted Redskin fan. In his later years, he enjoyed watching westerns (shootem-ups), wrestling, court shows, religious programs, and reading his bible.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle Eliza Jordan and Wesley Sylvester Jordan. His wife of 68 years, Everdene Jordan. His daughter, Renee Jennings, brothers: Cleophas, Hugh, John Wesley, George, Randolph, Cecil and nephew James. Sisters, Elizabeth, Celeste, Ophelia and beloved niece Carol. He is survived by his brother Oswald and sister Edna Livingston. Children, Earl "Darnell" (Deborah), Kelvin "Kelly", Cleophas (Johnnie Mae), Joyce, Carol Reid (Joseph) Lori Bowe (Darryl), Jay (Jennifer) 23 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Lord, we thank you for the cherished memories of our Father and the love he poured into our lives. We are grateful for the time we had with him and we will always cherish the moments we shared. As we mourn his passing, we pray that we may honor him by living our lives in a way that would make him proud.
