Eleanor Corban was born in Buckfastleigh, Devon and married John Damerel of Cornworthy on the 25th February 1816 in Harberton. Their daughter Mary Ann was born in 1817 and baptised on the 5th March that year. The family were living in Ashridge, Harberton and her husband John was working as a farmer.
Sadly, Eleanor passed away the same year that her daughter was born (1817) aged 27.
Her husband John died a few years later in 1820. Their daughter Mary All passed away in 1828 aged 11.

To the memory of Eleanor the wife of John Damerel who departed this life the 4th day of November in the year of our Lord 1817 in the 27th year of her age.
"Meek was her temper, modest was her life, a tender mother and a virtuous wife".
ALSO of the above John Damerel son of Robert and Ann Damerel of this parish who departed this life the 14th day of April in the year of our Lord 1820 in the 30th year of his age.
