Stella Stadniski Peashka [1] was born around 1893, in a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, that is Poland, today. She was married to Rudolph Peashka, a miner, who was also a Pole, from Austro-Hungary. They resided in Sopris, Colorado, where Rudolph worked in the mine. They had four children: Ferdinand "Fred", Louci "Lucy", Adolph, and Elizabeth "Elsie"; a daughter from Rudolph's previous marriage.

On 24 March 1922, her husband, Rudolph was killed in the Sopris Mine Explosion, along with 16 other miners. After his death, Stella entered into a relationship with Rudolph Sefcik, a miner from Bohemia. They had three children together: John, Lola, and Robert.

After a number of years, the couple separated. On April 26, 1936, Rudolph Sefcik went to Stella's house drunk, and threatened to kill her, if she did not reconcile their relationship. The next afternoon, on April 27th, he returned to her home, and shot Stella, killing her. He then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide. Stella's daughter, Lucy was in the yard and heard the gunshots. She entered the house and found her mother and Rudolph Sefcik lying dead, on the kitchen floor.

Stella was buried in Trinidad Catholic Cemetery, next to her first husband, Rudolph Peashka.
