Served On Coast Vessels for 40 Years - Came to B.C. in '76
Matthew Gray, 68, pioneer marine engineer in British Columbia waters, died in his home at 1342 East Twenty-fifth, on Friday.
"Matt" Gray served with coastal vessels for the past forty years and was engineer on board the "City of Nanaimo" and the "Dunsmuir." Born in Cork, he migrated to British Columbia in 1876, first settling in New Westminster, and moving to Vancouver in 1899.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. F. Peterson and Mrs. J. Gainer; and two sons, Clifford and Herbert, all resident here.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Undertaking Company on Monday at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
