Bonar Rites Here Friday To Be Simple

Simple funeral services will be held here tomorrow for D. R. M. Bonar, prominent Santa Rosa physician, whose death early yesterday morning ended an illness of a year, climaxed with a cerebral hemorrhage Sunday. The Reverend E. E. Ingram, who was a close personal friend of the physician, will officiate in the short rites here, after which the body will taken to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Lawndale, San Mateo county, for burial. The services are set for 10 o'clock in the chapel of Lafferty and Smith here.

Dr. Bonar's death, although not unexpected, spread sorrow over a large group of friends here. Besides his high Masonic connections he had been affiliated with many public movements, had served his community as a member of the Santa Rosa high school board, and his country as a volunteer in the Spanish American war, and later as a member of the United States pension board here on two occasions. His last connection with that office being in 1910, continued until his illness of a year ago.

A native of Virginia(sic), he came to Santa Rosa from Ohio in 1902 with his family, and had made his home here since.

He is survived by his wife, Laura(sic) W. Bonar, two daughters, Mary E. and Jane Bonar, a son, Perry A. Bonar; five brothers, Arthur Z. Bonar of Columbus, Ohio; Albert K. Bonar of Seattle, Washington; Melvin T. Bonar of Newark, Ohio; Orlando Bonar of Florida and Leslie Bonar of Sebastopol.

The Press Democrat; Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California; Thurs. 20 Dec 1928; p. 4, col. 4.
