Leon Baird, Jr., known to most as Junior, age 86, of Boxelder, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on the morning of January 17, 2024. Junior was born on March 14, 1937, in Boxelder to Leon and Gladys Tolison Baird. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Alaska. He returned home to work with his dad and in 1963, married the love of his life, Casina and started a family. Over the years, he ran a sawmill, was part owner in the Boxelder Store with his sister, Barbara and was a rancher. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; brother, GL Baird; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Billy Smith; brother-in-law, Phil Nailling; niece, Barbara Ann Luke; and father and mother-in-law, Junior and Opal Nailling.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Casina Baird of Boxelder; children, Sheila Hancock and husband, Jerry of Corsicana, Aliesa Baird of Boxelder, Nick Baird and wife, Lisa of Boxelder, Julie Davis and husband, Cliff of Boxelder and Leah Simpson of Boxelder; grandchildren, Zak Morris and wife, Haley, Kole Raulston, Victoria Davis and fiancé, Hayden Stringer, Jake King and wife, Cassie, Kyle Baird, Heather Book and husband, Layne and his "main man" Mason Jones; great grandchildren, Jaxson Morris, Caroline Morris, Nicole King, Kode King and Waylon Book; sister, Brenda Luke and husband, Jesse of Burnet and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private family graveside services will be Friday, January 19, 2024, at Boxelder Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Zak Morris, Kyle Baird, Cliff Davis, Hayden Stringer, Tim Shimpock and Todd Simpson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bruce Emery, Billy Don Minter, Mason Jones and Kole Raulston.
