James "Jim" Arthur Benke, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully in his home on May 14, 2021. He was born on March 11 in La Junta, Colorado to Jacob Albert and Elvie Celia. Jim grew up as the youngest of 7 children in a loving Catholic home.

Jim married the love of his life, Patricia Ann, on August 1, 1964. They were faithfully married for 56 wonderful years. Together, they raised 4 endearing sons and lived in 6 different states. Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy for 20 years and in the US Postal Service for 10 years. He enjoyed ocean fishing, taking pictures, and traveling. Jim loved spending time with family and will be greatly missed by them all.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pat; 4 sons and their wives; James "Jamie" Jr., Joel, Joey, and Jacob; 7 grandchildren and their spouses; Jennifer, Amy, James "Trey" III, Hunter, Valerie, Taylor, and Abigail; 6 great-grandchildren; Jeffery, Justin, Andrew "Boog", Aaron, James "Jae Bo" IV, and Hunter; sister, Katherine "Francie" Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Jacob, Marion, Otis, and Sylvan; and sister, Mary Louise.
