Corrine "Peg" Amant, 95, of Vermillion, SD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Per Peg's request, there will be no funeral service. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Peg was born November 27, 1928, to Elmer and Rose (McCombs) Hinds. She graduated from Ashland High School in Ashland, IL.

She married Charles Amant in Ashland, IL on December 31, 1950, and they had four children together. In 1968 the family moved from Springfield, IL to Vermillion, SD where they spent their remaining years.

Peg enjoyed golfing, attending bridge club, and shopping for a great bargain. She and Charlie avidly supported USD athletics. They traveled extensively, both nationally and internationally. They led a very active social life and threw famous parties, including one with a Roaring 20's theme. Many winters were spent in Vero Beach, FL, where they enjoyed time with family and friends. Above all else, Peg loved her family fiercely and was a model matriarch.

Peg is survived by her children, Lance Amant, of Vermillion, SD, Jack (Louise) Amant, of Longmont, CO, and Shari (Andrew) Barden, of Cedar Rapids, IA; one sister, Lillian Reside, of Daytona Beach, FL; grandchildren, Emma Barden, Kaitlyn Amant, and Charles (Corinne) Barden; great-grandchildren, Isla Corrine Barden, Peyton Little-Amant, and Jaxxton Isenbart; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Charlie Amant, daughter, Janice Kay Amant (infant), brother, William Hinds, brother, Albert Hinds, and sister, Ada Virginia Bloomfield.

Memorials in Peg's name may be sent to the Vermillion United Church of Christ. The family would like to extend a special thank you to HeartPrint Home Care and the Vermillion Sanford Care Center for all their compassionate care.
