Jose Rafael Blea, age 71, current resident of Rociada, New Mexico and formerly of
Santa Rosa and Tucumcari, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Alta Vista
Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
He was born in Trementina, New Mexico on March 9, 1938 to the late Lucio Blea and Josefita Garcia-Blea.
After 29 years of teaching he retired to Rociada, New Mexico. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing tennis and being outdoors.
He was a member and currently a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Calvary Baptist Church, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lucio Blea and Josefita Garcia; brothers: Lucio Blea Jr. and Jose R. Blea; sister: Irene Blea.
There will be a viewing at 6:00 pm, Monday, January 25, 2010 for family and friends at Calvary Baptist Church, 300 Baca St., Las Vegas, NM. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Owen Young officiating. Serving as casket bearers are: Orlando Gold, Matias Sena, Michael Saavedra, Joe Tenorio, Rico Blea, Michael Sandoval, Tom Smith, and Marcos Quintana. Cremation will follow the services with interment at a later date on his property in Rociada, NM.
