*Elizabeth Jane: Information about Elizabeth Jane Meadows has been somewhat minimal throughout the past 200+ years. Her father, Isham Meadows II, (1765-1844), includes her in his Will, probated in Feb. 1845, in Lowndes Co., AL (indicating the Meadows family apparently was aware Elizabeth Jane was alive at the time).
Recent DNA test results for some of her descendants has brought to light, with "strong confidence", evidence of what some have suspected for a while:
We believe (and DNA supports it) that she is our Elizabeth Jane Meadows (Carlisle), daughter of Isham Meadows II, (1765-1844) and Frances Acree (Meadows). She was born 1797 in GA and died 1881 in Lawrence Co. MS. In about 1814, in GA, perhaps in Greene Co., she married John Boyd Carlisle, born 1793 NC, died 1867, Lawrence Co., MS. They had three children, Thomas Meadows Carlisle,(b.1815 GA) William M. Carlisle,(b.1817 GA); and Nancy Carlisle (Kees), (b.1818 GA), before moving from GA and settling at Lawrence Co., MS, where they are recorded in the 1820, 30, 40, 50, 60 Censuses; then, Elizabeth as a widow in the 1870, 80 Censuses. These additional children were born in MS: Asa Meadows Carlisle,(b.1821); Allen Robertson Carlisle,(b.1822); Caroline "Sulie Ann"Carlisle (Lovell),(b.1823), James M. Carlisle,(b.1825); John A. Carlisle,(b.1827); Ransom Carlisle,(b.1829); Isham Carlisle,(b.1831); Edward Carlisle,(b.1833); Perry Carlisle,(b.1836); Girl/NU Carlisle,(b.1838-d.Abt.1849); Stephen Carlisle,(b.1840); and Priscilla Jane Carlisle (Martin),(b.1843)."---(rllunceford1 & clatamac)
