John A. Carlisle is the son of John Boyd Carlisle and Elizabeth Jane (Meadows) Carlisle of the Fair River area of Lawrence / Lincoln County, MS. John Gideon "Gid" Lovell and George Washington "Wash" Lovell, buried here in this cemetery, are John's nephews, sons of his sister, Caroline "Sulie Ann" (Carlisle) Lovell, and her husband, Barnett Lovell.

John A. Carlisle and Narcissa Dobbs were married Dec. 31, 1848, in Union County, ARK. They lived in Claiborne Parish and Rapides Parish prior to moving to Grant Parish in the mid 1870's.

J.A.Carlisle and N.M.J.Carlisle were Charter Members of Oak Grove Baptist Church when it was organized in Sept.,1883.
