Leighton was born in Wilkes Barre and was the son of the late Herman and Mary (Leighton) Anstett. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School and after getting married, moved to York with Anne to begin a career as a Merchandise Manager with The Bon-Ton for over 20 years. He then went on to be a Territory Sales Manager with Carole Fabrics and owned Heavenly Ham with his family.
He was a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years with St. Joseph Church and took communion to the sick and homebound. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteered with the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry and was a lifelong member of the Victory Athletic Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially in Long Beach Island, NJ.
Leighton is survived by his daughter Karen and her husband Michael Cummings, his daughter Patti and her husband Michael Brown, his daughter-in-law Diane Anstett, grandson Alexander Anstett, grandson Dr. Patrick Anstett and his wife Chloe, his great granddaughters Camila and Abigail Anstett, his sister Mary Jean and her husband Stephen Stoner and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Greg.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff in the Memory Care Section at Amoroso Wellness at York, especially Rebecca Miller.
A viewing will be at 10:00 – 11:00 am on December 27th at St. Joseph Church, 2935 Kingston Road. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 at the church with Rev. Sahd as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
