Judith Lynne Kemming, 79, of rural Independence, IA, died, Friday, December 15, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Waterloo, IA.

Private family services are Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at White Funeral Home, Independence, IA.

Judy was born March 7, 1944, in Shell Lake, WI, the daughter of Lester Maynard Arneson and Helen J. (Pratt) Arneson. Judy is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wesley Kemming. They were married on March 14, 1970, in Duluth, MN.

Judy and Ken made their home in rural Janesville, IA, for 26 years and then Harpers Ferry, IA, for another 20 years where Judy continued her passion for interior decoration and gardening. In August of 2015, they moved to an acreage outside of Independence, Iowa. Judy enjoyed playing the saxophone in her youth and played the piano, often accompanied by her father, at church services and events. She was regarded as a fantastic and creative cook and loved to be with her dog, Sox.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Judy is survived by her two daughters, Becky (Kevin) West of Jesup, IA, Rolanda (Paul) Jetter of Saratoga Springs, NY; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Esther Geil of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Donna Peterson.
