Dale was born September 23, 1942 to Charles and Inez (Kleinheksel) Hanson on the family farm in Adrian Township. He attended rural school at Banner #3 and received his elementary education and helped on the family farm.
He and Marlene Goodrich were married at Aberdeen, SD. They made their home on the farm at Adrian, where they farmed and raised their family.
He later moved to Spearfish, SD where he did landscaping until 2011. He moved back to Jamestown to be closer to family.
Dale was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and loved hunting. He raised Registered Hereford cattle. Dale had a knack for reading people, which made him a good salesman, selling Cargill seed for many years. He also taught all his children at a young age hard work ethics and the value of life.
Dale is survived by his three children, Kellie Buchanan, David (Jodee), Dan (Erica); 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; six brothers, Arnold, Donald (Maryette), Gene, Kenneth, Randy, and Brian; four sisters, Mavis Smith, Karen (Leon) Lagodinski, Debra Kitchel, and Tracy Dale.
He was preceded in death by parents; one infant daughter, one son, Douglas, three brothers Lyle, Gary and Alvin; one son-in-law, Albert Buchanan;three sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law.
