Mr. Sharp was born at El Dorado, Kas., and was one of twelve children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sharp. He entered the contracting business in Butler County, Kansas. He later formed the contracting firm, moving it here thirty years ago. The firm has been the general contractor for many buildings here, including the Border Star school, Southwest high school, and the remodeling of the Jackson County courthouse.
Mr. Sharp was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic lodge at El Dorado and the Ararat Shrine here.
He married the former Miss Lydia Sharp in 1902. She died March 5, 1911. He married Miss Winifred Kessler on June 25, 1916. She died April 6, 1952.
Surviving are two children from the first marriage, Mrs. Thelma Joslin of Tulsa, and Mrs. Vivian Woodfin of Denver; two brothers, Charles H. Sharp of 301 West Armour boulevard, and Ray W. Sharp of 3314 Holmes street; and five sisters, Mrs. Zella Kessler of Wichita, Mrs. Hazel Hulen of 4520 North Bales avenue, and Mrs. Nettie Riddle, Mrs. Ruth Funderburk and Mrs. Mildred Hill of 2940 Forest avenue.
Services will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday at the Newcomer chapel. Entombment will be in the Mount Moriah mausoleum. There will be a Masonic graveside service." The Kansas City Times, May 23, 1955
