Mr. Steven "Stevie" Mitchell Hickox, 64, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, December 9, 2023, at his residence.
Born in Blackshear, GA on July 1, 1959, he lived in Pierce County all his life. Mr. Hickox was a 1978 graduate of Patterson High School. He worked in construction prior to becoming a truck driver. Over the years he worked for Thom's Transport before owning his own truck and driving for Pope Trucking. Mr. Hickox was an avid outdoorsman having enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and most recently riding his side-by-side with his wife. He was a proud papa to his grandchildren whom he adored and he was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Melvin James & Ina Johnson Hickox. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Lawton and Annie Scott; as well as two brothers, William Hickox and Russell Hickox.
Survivors include his wife of 2 and a half years, Sharon "Sherry" Zitzelberger Hickox of Blackshear; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie & Dustin Amo of Blackshear; three sons, Mitchell (Tosha) Hickox of Patterson and Bradley Hickox and Wesley Hickox both of Offerman; a step-son, Paul Williams of Blackshear; three sisters, Mary Jane Heath of Screven, Glenda Hickox of Alma, and Kathleen (Marvin) Gill of Offerman; six brothers, J. D. Hickox of Patterson, Wendell Hickox of Florida, Clayton (Tracy) Hickox of Glen St. Mary, FL, Layton (Petra) Hickox of St. Marys, Michael (Lana) Hickox of Ellabell, and Raymond (Melinda) Hickox of Patterson; 7 grandchildren, Karlee, Gaige, Alyssa, Taylor, Ezekial, Lanniston, and Gavin; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Hickox will be held Friday morning, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Interment will be in the New Home Cemetery.
