1881 Godrey Flury came to America from Oensingen. Switzerland at the age of 16. Godfrey found employment in New York as a house painter and a decorator.
1895, he travelled to Texas. He did the painting in ST. MARY's Church at Praha,Texas; it is belived in that same year. Godfrey continued to support himself by painting exteriors and interiors in homes; as well as decorative paintings in churches.
Godfrey married Agnes Valchar on April 16, 1895. They married in the church at Praha.
1899 Godfrey painted the LAVACA COUNTY COURTHOUSE. He also worked at Moulton, Runge, Falfurrias, and San Antonio, Texas.
1911, Godrey had relocated to Austin where he established a Sign Painting Business. On November 11, 1911 he married Alvine Glismann.
Godfrey Flury was a Mason,a member of the Red Cross,the Chamber of Commerce and Saengerrunde.
In 1923, he secured an exclusive contract with the Travis County Commissioners to do billboards for county roads. He engaged in painting with oils and water colors, in sketching, and he designed floats and street decorations for civic celebrations. He also invented an archery device which he patented.
