Vi was born in Choestoe, Georgia and while only a few months old her family moved a little farther north to Young Harris, Georgia. She had 15 brothers and sisters and was born to Thomas Kimsey Jackson and Mary Caroline (Collins) Jackson. She met her future husband while on a trip to Ohio to visit her sister and brother-in-law. She spent her adult life in Ohio, but always cherished her Georgia family.
