Born on April 16, 1941, in Riverdale, New York, Ann was the daughter of Dr. Richard Kennedy and Mary C. Kennedy. She completed her education at Elizabeth Seton Academy, in 1958 and pursued History at Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Boston, Massachusetts, earning her degree in 1962.
During her college years, she met John R. Acken, and they were married on December 28, 1963. Ann and John were blessed with four children: James Gregory, Jean, Kathryn, and Jill. Although their marriage sadly ended in 1976, Ann courageously raised all four children in Somers, New York.
In 2005, Ann concluded her professional career as a Real Estate Broker in Westchester County, New York. Embracing retirement, she dedicated her time to staying abreast of political happenings, indulging in literature, and pursuing her passion for knitting. Most recently, Ann generously volunteered her time, serving as a transport for fellow aging adults.
Ann is survived by her brother, Richard Kennedy, and his wife, Patricia Kennedy and their three children. Her legacy continues through her children: J. Gregory (Regina) Acken, Jean (William) Horvath, Kathryn (Roy) Meyer, and Jill (Justin) Brubaker.
Ann leaves behind a cherished legacy in the form of grandchildren: Natalie Horvath, Brian Acken, Eric Horvath, William Acken, Regina Acken, Benjamin Meyer, Cameron Acken, Charles Meyer, Quinn Brubaker, Caroline Brubaker, Thomas (Teddy) Brubaker, and Luke Brubaker.
Known for her wry humor, impeccable fashion sense, straightforward honesty and not suffering fools, Ann was loved dearly by others and will be warmly remembered.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:30AM St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, NY 10589. The Mass will be followed by a private burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.
