Carol Anita Brooks passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Baptist East Hospital, Memphis, TN. She was born on April 8, 1941, in Memphis, TN, to the late James Allen Brooks and Merrill Roland Raney and raised in Amory by Allen and Ruth Brooks.

She graduated from Amory High School in 1959. Her career started initially in Amory where she worked as a Secretary for Jones Motor Company. She then went to work at Union Planters Bank/Regions Bank in Memphis, TN. Carol was employed with Union Planters for more than 40 years and was extremely loyal and always very professional. Always the life of the party, she lived her life to the fullest, loved her family and friends dearly and was extremely passionate about all animals.

A member of the Catholic Church, Carol loved God. She gave to the Humane Society, St. Peters Home for Children, as well as St. Jude and any large fundraisers they conducted. She volunteered her time and energy for the Memphis in May Festival yearly and also loved and volunteered for the St Jude classic tournament. She loved all things Memphis and spent many years volunteering and giving back to the community she cared deeply for. In her downtime, she liked watching Ole Miss football. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sisters, Judy Marett (Larry), Amory and Lynn Ellis (Wilson), Tupelo; brother, Jim Brooks (Amy), Hatley; nieces and nephews, Mandi Stanley (Bob), Kent Marett (Emily), Allen Marett (Carley), Rachel Wiygul (Jeff), Maggie Giles (Rob), Brian Ellis, Betsy Ward (Blake); a host of great-nephews and great-nieces; special friends, Marcella Smith and Rosaland Allen (Nash).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Brooks (Ruth).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at EE Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Father Joseph Le officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery with Pallbearers being Kent Marett, Rob Giles, Caleb Giles, Brooks Kenney, Jackson Kenney, and Jeff Wiygul. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
