Obituary for Robert Grant Clement
Robert G. Clement, 93, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023 at Sunrise of Overland Park Assisted Living. Robert was born on February 5, 1930 to Walter and Ruby Grace Clement.
He attended Wyandotte High School and was a member of the class of 1948. He played football, and enjoyed the sport his entire life. After High School he was drafted and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
After his time in the War, he came home and married his sweetheart who was waiting for him, Barbara J. Thomas. They were united in marriage June 5, 1953 and had 2 children, Danny and Connie and were married almost 41 years until Barbara's death in 1994. Robert was a Carmen for 3 years with the Rock Island Railroad and 38 years with the Union Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the City Center Church of Lenexa, Kansas.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Clement, his son Daniel Clement, his parents Walter and Ruby Grace Clement, 2 brothers Roy and Lloyd Clement and 2 sisters Alferna Day and Bethel Coon.
He is survived by his daughter Connie Baldwin (Larry), daughter in-law Lisa Clement, brother John Clement (Beverly), 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Also, there is his good boy Toby, who will dearly miss him.
The family also wants to give a heartfelt Thank you to the wonderful, loving staff at Sunrise of Overland Park and the Ascend Hospice team. They went above and beyond for Robert.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Dr. Kansas City, Kansas 66106.
Burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
