Gloria Murphy, age 81, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Buehler Home.
She was born on January 20, 1942, in Peoria, IL, to Dominic and Rose (Leone) Capranica. Gloria graduated from the Academy of Our Lady and married (John) Michael Murphy (who graduated from Spalding Institute) on December 18, 1965.
Gloria was a devoted Catholic and spent her adult years as an active member of the congregations of St. Thomas, St. Vincent DePaul and St. Philomena Catholic churches.
She was a proud stay-at-home Mom for many years, as it was important to her that her children didn't come home to an empty house after school. She then spent time working outside of the home for Bradley University and Peoria School District 150.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kris) Murphy of Downers Grove, IL, and Stephen Murphy of Peoria, IL; one sister, Eleanor Driscoll; one sister-in-law, Patty Unes; and one brother-in-law, Ed Peters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; three infant sons; and two sisters.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
