Joseph Householder, the son of Jonathon & Elizabeth Spencer Householder was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as a pioneer crossed the plains with his parents and nearly 700 individuals with the John R. Murdock Company, arriving in Salt Lake City on September 27, 1862 at age 12.

Joseph Householder married Agnes Hunter on May 1, 1877. He was a miner for many years. They lived in Bingham Canyon until 1889 when they moved to American Fork, Utah. They lived there for nine years and moved to Sunshine, a mining camp four miles from Mercur.

Joseph & Agnes were divorced.

In Sunshine, Utah Mrs. Agnes Householder and her girls ran a boarding house and she was mother and nurse to the camp of some 300 persons.

Joseph Householder died June 2, 1912 of hemorrhage of the lungs due to consumption.
