Charles Stephen "Charlie" Berhalter, 76, of Rome City, Indiana died Monday, November 13, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born August 1, 1947, in Kendallville to Joe G. and Maxine (Hathaway) Berhalter.

On May 28, 1978, in Kendallville he married Sharon L. "Sheri" Larson. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2002.

He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 during Vietnam.

Charlie had worked for and retired from Hossinger Refrigeration in Kendallville.

He enjoyed traveling and nature. He dearly loved his cat, Mason.

Surviving are a daughter, Laura Kay Hill of Albion; three grandchildren, Tyler Eggl, Dylan Eggl, and Matthew Meyers; a niece, Hindi (Rick) Clark of Kendallville; two great nieces, Alyn (Jordan) May and Alyx (Landon Myers) Clark; and a great great-nephew, Davis May.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Randy Berhalter.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

Honor guard services provided by the Veterans Honor Guard will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. also at the funeral home.
