Ernest Carrico enjoyed local fame for being in charge of BBQ for the Fancy Farm picnic during many of its first years. The tradition has been passed on to generations of the Carrico family ever since, continuing to this day.

"William E. Carrico
Dies at Fancy Farm

William Ernest Carrico, 68, well known citizen of Fancy Farm, died at 5:15 a.m. today at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Carrico; two sons, Spalding Carrico, Fancy Farm, and George Carrico, Birmingham, Ala.; five brothers, George Carrico, Bernard Carrico, Joseph Carrico, Paul Carrico and father C. R. Carrico, all of Fancy Farm; five sisters, Sister William, Union City; Sister Mary Teresine, Louisville; Mrs. Paul Englert and Mrs. Connie Thomas, both of Fancy Farm, and Mrs. James Hayden, Mayfield, and twelve grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Jerome church, with father Carrico officiating. The body will remain at Roberts Funeral Home until tomorrow morning, at which time it will be removed to the family residence.

Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Spalding, Will Ryan, Everett Hobbs, Tom Garnett, Jim Cash and Steve Roberts.

Nephews will serve as active pallbearers."
