Clyde Raymond Mitchell, 80, of Murrayville passed away November 13, 2023, at his home. He was born in Jersey County on August 26, 1943, the son of Charles L. and Dorothy Schaaf Mitchell. He married Sandra Lynn DeWitt on May 19, 1962, in Jacksonville and they were later sealed into the Salt Lake Temple on October 19, 1977.

He is survived by his wife, three children; Raymond (Linda JS) Mitchell of Pontiac, Richard (deceased wife Penny) Mitchell of Murrayville, and Patricia (Doug) Whiting of Murrayville; ten grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Elizabeth, Anna, Adam, David, Samantha, Brian, Krystal, and David; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Reba Witwer of Winchester.

He was preceded in death by one infant grandson; four brothers, Charles, George, Tom, and Lamont Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clyde honorably served in the United States Air Force. He later worked at AC Humko for over 30 years as a master diesel mechanic. He enjoyed staying busy with many outdoor activities such as hunting, gardening, and mowing, but most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial to follow at Murrayville Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
