Teresa Diane Gunter Taylor, 76, passed away early Thursday morning (November 9, 2023) at UF Health of Jacksonville, FL following a sudden illness.

She was born in Waycross but was a life-long resident of Brantley County, the daughter of the late Lloyd Gunter and Susie Altman Gunter and was preceded in death by a sister Vernell C. Lee and two brother-in-laws Harold Petty and Eugene T. Hickox. She was a member of the 1964 Hoboken High School graduating class.

Teresa retired in 2010 from the Brantley County Board of Education as a Substitute Teacher and Parapro at Hoboken Elementary School. She was also a Licensed Cosmetologist.

She was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Ladies II Sunday School Class. She was active in the Church Choir, Sweet Assurance Ladies Singing Group, and the Joy Group Senior Citizens Group.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Calvin O. (Donnie) Taylor of Waycross, two daughters, Wendy T. Brookshire and Susan T. Wasdin (husband Billy) both of Waycross; four grandchildren, Levi Wasdin (wife Cammie), of Waycross, Taylor Brookshire of Green Cove Springs, FL, Maggie Wasdin and Tyce Brookshire both of Waycross, two great grandchildren, Willa Kate Wasdin and Marlee Wasdin, two sisters, Agnes Hicox of Waycross and Yvonne Petty of Marietta, GA, a brother H.L. Gunter (wife Ginger) of Waycross, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday (November 13, 2023) at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Members of the Adult II Ladies Sunday School Class are asked to gather at the church at 10:30 AM Monday to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
