He was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the 1973 NFL draft, in the ninth round as the 215th pick, after playing for the University of Arkansas where he majored in marketing. Although he did not play in the first part of the 1973 season, he was a valuable member of the Bills' practice squad. However, he was later traded to the Chicago Bears, where he played in two games. He also played a season in 1974 in the World Football League (WFL) for the Chicago Fire. In 1971, he received the Worthen Sports Award and was honored as All-Southwest Conference, AP& UPI Honorable Mention All-American. Michael Gene Reppond passed away at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in the sport that he loved.
