Yvonne worked as the Activities Director at the Hearthstone from the late 1970s until she retired. She loved working with the elderly and continued visiting the Hearthstone and area assisted living facilities as a volunteer until recently. Before her time at the Hearthstone, she was part of the York Welcome Wagon and sold Beeline Fashion.
Yvonne was a talented organist and pianist. She was the organist for several area churches and played at many weddings, funerals and other celebrations. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church in York and served on the Board of Trustees as Treasurer for many years. She regularly attended bible study, was an officer of the United Methodist Women and participated in their prayer chain. Yvonne served for several years as a member of the Epworth Village Board of Directors.
In addition to activities with her family, Yvonne enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting, knitting, bird watching and gardening. She loved sports and attending her grandchildrens' sporting events. She watched as many college and professional sports as possible.
She is survived by her children: 1 son and 2 daughters and their husbands; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Phyllis Borden.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Calvary Lutheran Church Swede Home, Stromsburg. Burial will follow in the Swede Home Cemetery, Stromsburg. Yvonne has been cremated.
