Allen B. Shell, 76, of West Alexandria, formerly of New Lebanon, died Thursday evening, Oct. 14, 2004, following a lengthy illness.

Born Aug. 3, 1928, in Brock, Ky., he was the son of Allen L. and Katie (Williams) Shell. He served on active duty with the U.S. Army in the Korean War from July 1952 to June 1954.

Mr. Shell worked for 50-plus years as an auto mechanic in the Dayton are and in Kentucky, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Eaton, and was former owner/operator of the Twin Valley Trailer Park in West Alexandria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda Shell, on Jan. 20, 1995; six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include children, Robert B. Shell and James E. Shell, both of Glenwood, and A. Diana Pedigo of West Alexandria; grandchildren, Misty Holley, Heather Shell, Arlo Pedigo, Anthony Pedigo and Nathanael Pedigo; great-grandchildren, Marissa, Macie, Malachi and Morgan Holley, and Isabel Pedigo; sisters, Ruby Brashear of Hyden, Ky., and Elsie (Richard) Scent of Fairhope, Ala.; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 17, at Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with Pastor Ron Sparks officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
