Maxine Stanley O'Connell, 78, of Raleigh, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2011.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Ridge Road Baptist Church, Raleigh, on Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 PM wit the Rev. Mack Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Born August 14, 1932 in Johnston County, NC, was the daughter of the late Rother and Bessie Stanley. A graduate of Atlantic Christian College and life-long teacher, Maxine was retired from Wake County Schools.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebekah O'Connell and spouse, Larry Weber of Wilson, Melanie O'Connell Underwood and husband, Geoff; sons, Albert O'Connell and wife, Angela, John O'Connell, Jr. and wife, Karen, Kevin O'Connell all of Raleigh; brothers, Pete Stanley and wife, Cora of Smithfield, Jimmy Stanley and wife, Frances of Garner, Sherwood Stanley and wife, Dorothy of Mt. Olive; sister, Margaret Lee of Smithfield. She is also survived by the loves of her life, six grandchildren, Chadwick and Chandler O'Connell, Mary Christina and Amydell O'Connell, Elizabeth and Brooke Underwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
