Bernice Tessibel "Tessie" Cashman of Coal City, Indiana passed away on October 28, 2023 at the age of 87 surrounded by her loved ones.

Tessie was born on May 27, 1936, in Coal City, the daughter of Howard and Maxine (Hauser) Inman. She graduated from Coal City High School in 1954 and attended Indiana State Teachers College, earning her teaching degree in Home Economics and Physical Education. Tessie began her teaching career at Holton High School, teaching Home Economics until 1967. She then moved on to teach PE at Clay City High School until 1970 when she met the love of her life, the late John H. Cashman, and moved to Riverside, Ill. She ended up settling in Wheaton, Ill. where they started their family. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her children.

In 1989 Tessie and her family moved back to the Coal City area to live out their retirement years close to family and friends. She attended Jefferson Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She was an avid quilter and an active member of the Clay City Calico Quilters. She also loved to sew and make clothes for her daughter and nieces when they were growing up. Painting brought a lot of joy to her life and she has many paintings hanging in her and her family's homes. She especially loved playing games, blowing bubbles, and watching movies with her grandchildren.

Tessie was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Maxine Inman, her husband John Cashman, her sister and brother in law Janice and Lew Wallace, and her brother Doug Inman.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 5th at Beech Cemetery, 1525 CR 1500 W, Coal City, Indiana 47427 at 1 P.M.
