After moving to North Syracuse, he met Ruth Sarah Fonda and began a life of 67 years of marriage. Together, they raised five children.
Bob was truly part of the Greatest Generation. He believed in hard-work, did not mince words and passed these values on to his children. He was a veracious reader, his favorite was history.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Ruth S. Lyke in 2021; son, Gary A. Lyke in 1986; sisters, Eleanore Finch and Jean Hildman; brother, Wayne Lyke; brothers-in-law and best friends, Stewart, William, Harvey, Howard, Paul and Clayton Fonda.
He is survived by his children, Stephen (Esther) Lyke, Jeffrey Lyke, Brian (Barbara) Lyke and Sharon (Deb Williams) Lyke; grandchildren, Sean (Teresa) Lyke, Stephanie (Anthony) Woods and Codi Lyke; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Mason, Mackenzie and Brian; younger brother, James Lyke; sisters-in-law, Jane (Bill) Winks and Janet Baum, Trish Fonda and Mary Lyke; brother,-in-law, Dan Hildman and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 6th 11am-1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 1pm. Burial will immediately follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
