Ruth S. (Fonda) Lyke, 88, of North Syracuse, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on June 30th holding the hand of her husband of 66 years, Robert S. Lyke and surrounded by other family members. Ruth was born in 1933, the sixth of nine children, to the late Stewart and Eunice Fonda. The love that the 9 siblings had for each other sustained them through the Great Depression and the rest of their lives. Ruth's life revolved around children, after raising her own five children she gave childcare to many others. Her happiest times were when she had a baby in her arms. Ruth was predeceased by her son, Gary Lyke and brothers, Stewart, William, Harvey, Howard and Paul Fonda. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert S. Lyke; children, Stephen (Esther) Lyke, Jeffrey Lyke, Brian (Barbara) Lyke and Sharon (Deb Williams) Lyke; grandchildren, Sean (Teresa) Lyke, Stephanie (Anthony) Woods, Codi Lyke; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Mason, Mackenzie and Brian; brother, Clayton Fonda; twin sisters, Jane (Bill) Winks and Janet Baum and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8th 10am-noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at noon. Burial will take place in North Syracuse Cemetery immediately after services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
