Harvey Arthur Lien, 98, Fargo passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at St. Catherine's North (Rosewood on Broadway), Fargo.

Harvey was born January 6, 1925 in Park River, North Dakota to Arthur and Nanny (Trygg) Lien. He grew up on a farm near Inster, North Dakota, graduating from Inkster High School in 1943.

He married Dorothy Durkin on July 9, 1945 at Conway, North Dakota.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946. He was honorably discharged and went to work for the Grand Forks County Highway Department. He worked there until 1953 when he started at Railway Mail Services in the US Post Office as a clerk. In 1975, he became supervisor in Fargo and retired in June, 1984. He also worked several jobs when his children were younger including taxi driver and landscaping.

After retirement, he did volunteer work including tax counseling for the elderly, Senior Health counseling and was a service officer for the National Association for Federal Retired Employees. He was active in Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was on the advisory board for Medicare. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, socializing and playing his slots. He was an avid fan of both Minnesota Twins and the NDSU Bison.

He is survived by his children; Kenneth (Sherry) Lien, Daniel (Denice) Lien; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and son-in-law, Joel Shafer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorothy, daughter, Shirley Shafer, siblings, Russel Lien, Orville Lien, Nollie Horne, Glenn Lien, infant brother and daughter-in-law, Shirley Lien.

Prayer Service: 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 6:00 P.M.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo.

Interment with Military Honors: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
