Anne was the daughter of Hubert Davis Lucy Sr and Grace Beatrice (Smith) Lucy.
She met her future husband at a USO dance in Charlottesville VA, he was born and raised in Massachusetts.
Her sister Virginia also met her future husband during the war, who was born in Connecticut but was raised in Massachusetts.

Anne and Harry were married in Victoria VA but soon moved to Newton MA and by 1950 they had moved to 626 Centre St in Newton MA, where they remained until 1970 when they moved to 346 Otis St in West Newton. Anne and Harry had four children :
John Wakeley Purple, named after his biological great grandfather (John Wakeley)
Gayle Anne Purple who married Richard Douglas Hutcherson
Twin boys
- Robert Davis Purple, named after his mother's paternal grandfather (Robert Davis Lucy)
- William Charles Purple, named after his father's boss (William Fawcett) and the family doctor (Charles Thompson who was his father's friend when he was growing up)

After Harry passed away, about 10 years afterwards, Anne moved to Lexington KY to be close to her only daughter (Gayle Anne (Purple) Hutcherson).
