Charlotte Alpine Hayes, 92 of Aliso Viejo, California,
Passed away in her home peacefully on November 5, 2014. She was born September 6, 1922 in South Dakota, the daughter of Carrie and George Rabenberg,

She was raised in Iron Mountain, Michigan, finally settling in California.

Charlotte is survived by three loving ALPINE children: Andrea, John and William;
four grandchildren;
and a wonderful clan of in-laws; cousins; nieces; and nephews.

Elegant, smart and determined, Charlotte will be remembered by her many friends and extended family as all that and a caring friend and loving mother.

Charlotte grew up with her beloved brother William Rabenberg, in the small "UPer" town of Iron Mountain, Michigan, in a home her father built.
As a young woman, her Aunt while living in California, forever changed her life by inviting her to move to Los Angeles, CA; where she met Paul Alpine, an aerospace engineer and raised a family in the San Fernando Valley.

Long after the children were grown and her marriage to Paul ended, Charlotte met and married Jack Hayes, a successful insurance executive.
The couple split their time between a beautiful home in Orange Country and the desert house in Palm Springs, finally retiring at the Covington in Aliso Viejo, CA, where they rejoined and met new friends.

When not enjoying time at home, they spent many happy years traveling together around the world.
On one of the trips in Europe they met a group of fellow traveling couples and the group remained friends for life meeting every year at a different location for the "reunion of the Lafayette barge group".

Making life long friends after retiring, enjoying the company of your old friends, and raising three very grateful children. How wonderful was that!

Charlotte requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to either the Braille institute or the Salvation Army.
