Leona Mae brown passed away peacefully on July 7th 2019. She was born June 24th 1929 in Los Angeles California to the late Ada and John Franklin. She was a coal miner's daughter. She owned and operated a food truck ( Lees Coffee Cup) that proudly served the personnel that built the Delaware Memorial Bridge and other various locations. She later pursued her passion as a seamstress for JC-Penney. Following her retirement, she continued to make custom draperies for a variety of businesses. She also loved birds. She had a parrot named, Polly that she had for 20 plus years. She is survived by her sisters, Bessie, Margie and Sherline and brother, Donald; beloved mother of Bonnie Stephens (Bill) and son, James Wilson; step-daughters: Melissa Brown and Belinda Nelson; step-son, Earl Lester Brown Jr.; grandchildren: Dennis Morton (Ann) , Steven Morton (Tracy), Johnathan Morton (Sandra), Ernest Wilson (Jinnita), Tami Genna, Lisa Osborne, Michael Beatson, Kirsten Nelson, Brandon Brown, Tonya and Thomas Patton; and thirty great – grandchildren and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Brown, Sr.; daughter in law, Sarah Wilson; granddaughter, Wendy Williams; grandson, Thomas Morton; stepdaughter, Anna Brown; stepson, Russell Brown; and great grandson, Michael Daurnhauer and Braden Osborne. She was also preceded by her sisters, Sarah and Laura Lou. The family would like to thank Vitas and Compassionate Care Hospice for their services. A celebration of Leona's life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Silverbrook Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.
