Logan, Utah - Leora Sawyer, age 93, passed away at her daughter's home in Mendon, Utah on January 6, 2007, with her family beside her.
Leora was born May 2, 1913, a daughter of Jesse Stephen and Rebecca Keziah Wilson Wilson in Hillsdale, Utah. She was the youngest of eight siblings. She attended schools in Panguitch and graduated from Panguitch High School, Class of 1931.

Leora was married to Earl Sawyer (1909-1966) on August 5, 1935 at the family home in Wilson Canyon, Utah. Earl died July 17, 1966.

Leora enjoyed most of all, interacting with people, and activities with friends and family. She enjoyed living life and almost anything in it, except hunting and cold weather.

In the later part of her life, she pursued a career in nursing in Panguitch. She moved to Logan, Utah in 1970, where she worked at Logan Regional Hospital. She retired from there, after which she sold Lifeline Service and Equipment, for several years, before complete retirement. Logan Regional was the first hospital in Utah to implement this service.

Leora is survived by her children: Stan and Betty Sawyer; Larry Sawyer, Judy and Don Shelton; Bob and Julie Sawyer; 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dell, on November 6, 1942, and all of her 8 siblings.

A grave side ceremony will be held at the Hatch LDS Ward Chapel in Hatch, Utah on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Leora will be buried next to her departed husband, Earl at the Hatch Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
