Monta Wayne 'Wayne' Bolin
February 26, 1943 - January 15, 2007
M. Wayne Bolin, age 63, of 7473 SE Star Rd, Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed from this life Monday, January 15, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. at his home surrounded by his family.
Wayne fought a valiant five year battle with cancer.
Wayne was born February 26, 1943, in Baxter Springs, Kansas, to the union of Homer C. and Dorothy (Clark) Bolin.
He has been a lifelong resident, and was a 1961 graduate of the Riverton High School, and attended Pittsburg State University.
Wayne worked 19 years for the B.F. Goodrich plant in Miami, Oklahoma, until their closing. He owned several rental properties in the area, and was also a Cattleman/Rancher. He owned and operated the True Value Store in Columbus, Kansas, from 1987 until 1999.
He was a member of the Riverton Friends Church, Riverton, Kansas.
M. Wayne Bolin and Barbara Jean Spohn were united in marriage June 28, 1963, in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She preceded him in death May 30, 1986.
He then married Jan Switlik-Root September 2, 2000, in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She survives at their home.
Also surviving are his son, Doug Bolin and wife Debbie of rural Columbus, Kansas; his daughter, Valerie Harris and husband Buddy of rural Quapaw, Oklahoma; Three stepsons, Andy Root and wife Amy of Riverton, KS, Mark Root and Fiancee Lorienda of Baxter Springs, KS, and Chip Root and wife Coleen of Riverton, KS., Three brothers, Freddie Bolin, Donnie Bolin, and Steve Bolin, all of Baxter Springs, KS, and Three Sisters, Judy Wilson of Baxter Springs, KS, Nancy Preddy of Cassville, MO, and Joyce Blizzard of Galena, KS. There are thirteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007, at the Riverton Friends Church in Riverton, KS, with Rev. Wes Davis and Rev. Audie Tash officiating.
Interment will be at the Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS, with Bill Siegel, John Trimble, Kent Warstler, Sonny McGregor, Robert Harper, and Jerry Boyd serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, KS.
Memorial contributions may be given to the "Class, LTD" in his honor C/O Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.
