Clyde Eugene "Sonny" Jones, 90, of Woodson, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at his residence. He was born July 6, 1933, near Franklin, the son of Clyde W. and Florence Mildred Megginson Jones. Sonny married Beth Krohn on August 1, 1964, in Berwyn, and she survives.

Sonny is also survived by two children, Jeffrey (Janice Tharp) Jones of Jacksonville and Marcy (David) Fenelon of Springfield; four grandchildren, Jake Jones of Jacksonville, Madeline (Justin) Matson of Auburn, and Josh (Katie) Fenelon and Dakota Fenelon, both of Springfield; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Thompson and Ida Mae Seymour.

Sonny was a self-employed entrepreneur. In the late 1960's he developed a trailer park and laundromat in Woodson and later developed a residential subdivision on the West end of Woodson. He owned and operated J and K Enterprises, which included the CB Shop and other businesses, and was a salesman for Stormor Grain Bins. In addition, Sonny sold solar panels and lighted address signs.

Sonny was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Sixth Fleet during the Korean War. He served four years of active duty and four years in the reserves. He was involved in the Wadley Lodge at Woodson and a member of the Shrine; and a member of the Woodson American Legion. He was an avid golfer and St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed traveling with Beth throughout the continental United States. He was involved in the Gold Wing Road Rider Association and Honda Riders Club of America. Sonny was a member of City Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a place and time to be determined. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriners Children's Hospitals or St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals.
