The Mass of Christian Burial for Rita will be 10:30 am Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Church of the Resurrection with Father Phil Gibbs as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Dubuque.
Rita was born June 8, 1934, in Dubuque, the daughter of Peter and Mary Diamond Petrakis.
On September 17, 1955, she married Byron L. "Mickey" Sullivan at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2016.
Rita graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, top of her class in 1952.
She was a housewife, taking great care of her family.
Rita belonged to the Prayer Chain, Mothers Club and Bridge Clubs.
She enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, crossword puzzles, baking and playing bridge.
She especially loved being a wife and mom and hearing all about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Steve and Bill and sister, Georgia.
