Mickey was born on September 16, 1930 in Dubuque, the son of Leo and Margaret (Fortman) Sullivan.
He attended Nativity School, Loras Academy, and later served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
On September 17, 1955 he married Rita Petrakis at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dubuque. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage together.
Mickey worked for Life Investors AEGON until his retirement.
Mickey loved to golf, play cards, and watch the Chicago Bears.
He had a great sense of humor and was a man of strong faith. He was a member of Resurrection Parish, where he ushered, lectured, and announced at the Parish Festival for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John L. Sullivan, and Patrick in infancy; and sisters, Suzanne Rezab, Joyce Kolvach, and Ruth in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Church of the Resurrection. Rev. Joseph Hauer will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #6. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Church of the Resurrection or Hospice of Dubuque.
