Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Village of Winston Park, Kitchener at the age of 92 years. Ron was born in East Zorra Township, a son of the late Daniel Zehr and former Annie Brenneman.

Now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years Ruth Lorraine (Bender) Zehr (2019), cherished and loving father and grandfather of Bob and wife Connie Zehr and their children Celene and Eric (Kayla); Don and wife Wendy Cressman Zehr and their children Tess (Jake) and Michaela; Lynn and wife Julie Jutzi and their son Blake; Will and wife Shannon Regan and their son Lliam; Kathy Zehr and her children Elisabeth, Malcolm and Sheldon; and Mike and wife Denise Maurer and their children Mike, Matthew and Marc. Ron will be missed by several great-grandchildren. Ron is survived by his brother, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Glenn and Mary Ellen Zehr, Joyce Zehr, Cleo and Joan Bender and Marj Kaethler, as well as by his many nieces, nephews and extended families.

Predeceased by brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Vernon and Katie Zehr, Art and Dorothy Bender, Olive and Orville Bender, Katie and Armand Bender, Lillian and Sam Lichty, and Daniel Zehr.

Ron was a founding member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg, and he worked on the church construction in 1964 and addition in 1991. He was a career volunteer of the Mennonite Relief Sale, Wilmot Horticultural Society, Tri County Mennonite Homes, AM Fire and Storm Aid and the early years at Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp. Ron was a Partner in Nith Valley Construction in New Hamburg and a part time farmer. In his retirement years he enjoyed driving for Meals on Wheels and was a faithful Wilmot Coffee Club Member.

The family would like to thank the staff in the Sandhills neighbourhood of Winston Park and Assisted Living at Nithview Home for their care and compassion in Dad's last years.

Family and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 4 - 7 p.m. for a time of memorial visiting. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Kevin Peters Unrau and Kathryn Cressman officiating. A private interment in the 19th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery to take place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hillcrest Mennonite Church or Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp would be appreciated and can be done through the funeral home.
