José is survived by his siblings, Anthony Moises, Ignacio Victor (Sarah) and Estella Feliz Horsburgh (Lawrence), nephews, Tony, Andrew and Cheo, nieces, Dessie, Gillian, Ana and Rose, grand-niece, Amaya and numerous extended family and friends.
José was preceded in death by his parents, Andres M. Gallegos and Aurelia T. Gallegos.
José was a cherished and a loving uncle, brother and son.
José was an adventurer, teacher and snowboarder.
José loved to travel and had lived in London, England, Merida, Venezuela, Kunming, China, Washington, DC and in the states of Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas.
José enjoyed literature, philosophy, music, poetry and was a student of Mandarin and Tai Chi. José was an avid guitar player and vocalist after having learned violin, piano, cello and bass instruments. Combining his favorite activities, he became a multilingual snowboarding and skiing instructor.
José graduated from St. Mark's High School in Dallas and went on to earn his BA in English from Southwestern U. in Georgetown, TX and his MA in Liberal Arts at St. John's in Santa Fé, NM.
Visitation will be on October 16, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belén Catholic Church,
101 N. 10th Street, Belén, NM. The Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. and Mass will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., also at Our Lady of Belén Catholic Church. Interment will be on October 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belén Memorial Gardens, 101 N. 10th Street, Belén, NM.
